Amalfitano Won't Have That Cisse-Factor

Alan Pardew insists he will not rush new signing Romain Amalfitano into first-team action after his summer move from French outfit Stade de Reims.

Pardew says the 22-year-old will not burst on the scene at St James' Park like Papiss Cisse.

Amalfitano joined the Magpies from Stade de Reims this summer but he did not feature regularly for the Ligue 2 champions, and may be short of fitness

Alan Pardew: "Romain's a player who has been off the radar for a while, so it's going to take him some time to get back to his very, very best.

"However, he is coming into a great environment and I'm sure he'll settle very quickly.

"I hope the fans don't expect him to burst on the scene like Papiss (Cisse) did last season.

"We will take our time with him, and the players will make him feel at home.

"That's the beauty of the French market.

"He plays across the midfield, a bit like Sylvain Marveaux.

"Word of mouth is very good and there's a lot of contact from players wanting to come to this club.

"That arms me for the Europa League and it may well help me to bring players in and out."
