Alan Pardew - Mr Personality

Newcastle United picked up five prizes at the 2012 Sport Newcastle Awards.

Alan Pardew claimed the main prize at Newcastle Civic Centre as the city’s sports personality of the year. 

He was unable to attend because of family business, but assistant John Carver received the award on his behalf.

Steve Harper received the Wilkinson Sword for services to sport.

The club’s Foundation claimed the Community Award, and young players Remie Streete and Alex Gilliead also picked up prizes.

Streete, a 17-year-old striker from South Shields was unable to collect his Wor Jackie Award for the club’s best under-18 because he was playing for the reserves against Aston Villa.

England Under-16 forward Alex Gilliead was presented with the Jack Hixon Award by Alan Shearer. The trophy is dedicated to the legendary scout who discovered the former England and Newcastle captain.
