Alan Pardew expecting answer over £7m Mevlut Erdinc bid

Newcastle should find out on Wednesday if their ?7million bid for Paris St Germain striker Mevlut Erdinc is successful.

Erdinc has been on Newcastle's radar for the past year and the Magpies failed with a bid last month.

PSG have boosted their attacking options with Kevin Gameiro from Lorient, another player Toon boss Alan Pardew wanted at St James' Park, and the deal may have pushed Erdinc closer to the exit door.

Newcastle expect to find out about Erdinc once former Brazil international Leonardo takes up his role as sporting director at PSG.

Pardew takes his squad to America in a fortnight and wants at least a couple of new faces in his ranks before then.

He has already signed Sylvain Marveaux, Mehdi Abeid, Yohan Cabaye and Demba Ba while Hatem Ben Arfa and Dan Gosling are fit after long-term injuries.
