Airey double

16 February 2010 10:14
ACADEMY starlet Phil Airey was the two-goal hero for Newcastle United reserves against Leeds in front of watching first-team boss Chris Hughton.[LNB] The 18-year-old striker is one of the leading lights in the club's juniors side and his goals were the difference between the two sides a sodden Whitley Park.[LNB] Airey's opener arrived on ten minutes when he burst clear before confidently tucking home and he added a second in the 34th minute when he smashed into the roof of the net at the far post from Frank Danquah's enticing centre.[LNB] Newcastle: Krul, Leadbitter, Tozer, Taylor, Lough, Godsmark, McLaughlin (Inman 59), Donaldson, Ferguson, Airey, Danquah. Subs (not used): McCrudden, Soderberg, Dummett, Morris.[LNB]
