Albert Luque: “This goal was for them. I knew what the game meant to them and wanted to win it so much.

Glenn Roeder: “Albert coming on to make it 4-1 would have been a dagger in the heart to most Sunderland fans because he had not scored for us.
“For us, though, it was the cherry on the top of the cake.
"Chops (Michael Chopra) had scored his first Premier League goal, Zoggy (Charles N’Zogbia) went on a mazy run, Alan (Shearer) got the pen and Albert wrapped it up.
“Apart from Alan getting injured, it was the perfect day.
“When you look back now it was not so sour for Al because he was retiring in a few games.
“He finished for the black and whites on the battlefield and helping his team to a big win. What a way to go out.”
