Ex-Monaco boss De Bontin hired by Red Bulls
Jerome de Bontin, former president of France's AS Monaco, was named general manager of Major League Soccer's New York Red Bulls on Tuesday, replacing Erik Soler, the club announced.
De Bontin will oversee the club's business operations while Frenchman Gerard Houllier, who was appointed the club's global football director in July and who turned 65 last month, will oversee all sporting aspects for the team.
De Bontin, a French native with American citizenship, was president of Monaco from early 2008 to 2009, and he served as a board member for the club as well as for Monegasque for seven years.
De Bontin served on a US Soccer Federation task force on player development and chairs a US Soccer board focused on youth.
