Tim Cahill and the New York Red Bulls have reached a mutual decision to end the Australia forward's contract with the Major League Soccer club.
The 35-year-old moved to the United States in July 2012 after eight years at Everton, signing a contract which was due to run until the end of the 2015 season.
The Red Bulls announced Cahill's departure on Twitter on Monday evening - around six hours before the 11pm UK transfer deadline - before quoting the player as saying: " I've enjoyed every moment of my time at the Red Bulls and leave with great memories."
