After an amazing World Cup two years ago, where they defied the odds and beat Slovakia, Uruguay and favourites Brazil, Holland is hoping to win their second European Championship.

They qualified head of group, and in the process beat San Marino 11-0 which is their biggest victory to date.

The first time the clockwork orange team entered the UEFA European Championship was in 1976 where they finished 3rd, 22 years after that they won it for the first time (1988). In the World Cup out of the nine times they have qualified, they have reached the Final three times, losing all of them.

Schalke 04's Klaas-Jan Huntelaar is Holland's top goal scorer, with 31 goals, just 9 goals away from top goalscorer of all time Patrick Kluivert.

In August of last year, Holland ranked number 1 in the FIFA world rankings, they are the second team to have ranked number one without having won a world cup. the best football Holland have seen came in the 1970's with playmaker Johan Cruyff.

With players like Huntelaar or Robin van Persie, it's no surprise that they scored 37 goals in the qualifying stages, more than any other team.

Ibrahim Afellay underwent surgery last October after tearing the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee. He is due to make a comeback and will be at Marwjik's disposal, should he choose the 26 year old for the 2012 European competition.
