Euro 2012 Group E Update - September 2011

The Netherlands all but guaranteed their place in next summer's Euro 2012 Finals with a comfortable 2-0 away victory against Finland. The Dutch were already 1-0 up when Finland were reduced to ten men and they sealed victory with an injury time second goal. Holland could still be be beaten to top spot by Sweden who they play in Solna in their final group match, but the match will only matter if the Dutch fail to beat Moldova in Rotterdam four days earlier. In the unlikely event of this happening the Dutch will still qualify for the finals as the best runner-up.

Hungary trail Sweden on head-to-head record having played a game more. However victory for the Magyars over Finland in Budapest on 11th October will leave the Swedes needing to gain a minimum of three points from their remaining to matches to ensure that they take their place in the play-off round in November.
