Last season opened with a 9-1 drubbing at Victoria Park, but on Saturday afternoon a Nathan Egan hat-trick saw the Blues come from behind to get their season off to a winning start.
Christopher Monaghan opened the scoring for the hosts on the half-hour, but Egan bagged his first a minute before the break to send the sides in level.
And he grabbed his second with twelve minutes to go to edge Nelson ahead, before sealing the win with his third a minute from time.
