Napoli end press boycott

Napoli players ended their press boycott on Thursday as captain Paolo Cannavaro agreed that his side could mount a title challenge.

Napoli refused to speak to the media on Wednesday night following their 2-0 victory over Udinese, in protest at perceived criticism in the press.

Napoli have been hugely inconsistent this season, beating the likes of Inter Milan, AC Milan, Villarreal and high-flying Udinese, but losing to strugglers Parma and Chievo.

But having decided to speak up, Cannavaro believes the team can go all the way.

"We have to do the business on the pitch, it's useless talking about it," said Cannavaro.

"It's true we've played very well at times, we can't hide from the fact that we're amongst the best teams in the league.

"We can only be the best if we work hard and run in every match, that's the key.

"We need to get through the first half of the season and then in the second half we'll know where we are."
