Agent defends Lavezzi conduct

The agent of Napoli striker Ezequiel Lavezzi has defended his client against charges that he has asked for a large pay rise.

The 24-year-old Argentina international had been expected to leave Naples this summer but a move has failed to materialise, leaving Lavezzi to stay put for the time being.

Agent Eduard Rossetto told Calciomercato.it: "Ezequiel Lavezzi has returned to Napoli to prepare with the team in Austria.

"He is peacefully exercising his profession as a player, by making his duty of loyalty and fidelity clear, compared to many others.

"He has not asked for a pay rise, so he does not deserve to continue to endure insults from the public.

"He solely wants to fulfil his duty as a Napoli player, while doing the best he can for himself and for the team."
