Motherwell manager Maurice Malpas will not play Scott McDonald in next week's SPL clash with Celtic after the striker agreed a summer move to Parkhead.

The Australian marksman has agreed terms with the Bhoys over a £500,000 switch at the end of the season and Malpas will omit him from the squad for the April 7 clash.

"He'll play against Dunfermline on Saturday but he won't be involved against Celtic as that would put too many people under pressure," he told The Sun.

"I don't know how the fans will react but it's another concern. But Scotty will have to handle it - he's made his bed, he'll have to lie in it."
