Motherwell forward Scott McDonald feels his side can look forward to better times in the New Year, having earned two away wins on the trot.
A 2-1 victory at Kilmarnock and a 2-0 triumph at Dunfermline Athletic have eased the Steelmen's relegation fears and McDonald feels his side can challenge for a top-six spot.
He said: "I think this takes a lot of pressure off the players, off the management and gives us a bit more freedom to express ourselves.
"It's not always easy to go out there and perform when you're down there.
"It puts us well ahead now and hopefully this is the start of something good.
"We are going into a New Year looking in a lot better shape than we were two or three weeks ago."
