Well suffer Humphrey blow
19 Nov 2009 - 13:34:57
Motherwell have been rocked by the news that winger Chris Humphrey could be sidelined for six weeks by an ankle injury.
The 22-year-old was injured in the 2-2 draw with Hamilton Academical, having filled in at right-back at New Douglas Park.
Boss Jim Gannon said: "He went over on his ankle. It was a really nasty one and it flared up badly.
"Initially we treated it as a major strain, but there is a little bit of a concern so we are going to send him for scans and X-rays just to rule out any kind of fracture.
"Chris has had a tough season so far and it's disappointing for him to be out for what could be five or six weeks."
However, goalkeeper John Ruddy and defender Yassin Moutaouakil are expected to recover from groin injuries to face Aberdeen this weekend, with Stevie Hammell set to feature after a hamstring problem.
Shaun Hutchinson remains ruled out after sustaining a hamstring strain during his recovery from ankle problems.
