Well done Keith

Keith Lasley has made his mark in the record books by winning the SPL player of the month award for October. It's well deserved recognition for our midfielder who has recently found some goal scoring form.

Those who were fortunate enough to see his thunderbolt strike in Inverness last Saturday will have no doubt of the merit of this award.  That was his second goal of the season against Inverness and it joins those against Dundee United and Hibs to make his season’s tally four.

After the game in the Caledonian stadium Keith suggested that his newly found appetite for a strike on target came from an increase in confidence that followed the first couple.  In the past he may have looked to make a pass but at the moment he his tempted to pull the trigger and he’s getting the reward.

His main role in the engine room of the team sees him covering miles every game breaking up opposition threats, receiving and making passes and together with his fellow midfielders acting as the glue that keeps the team playing well.

He’s approaching 300 appearances for Motherwell and since his return to the club following a spell in Plymouth in 2006 he has been a much appreciated fixture in first eleven.  He follows Scott McDonald who won the award in 2004.
