Uncomfortable Fir Park return for Brown
Aberdeen manager Craig Brown accused certain people of "besmirching the reputation" of Motherwell after a difficult return to Fir Park ended with him giving a statement to police following a clash with Well chairman John Boyle.
The former Motherwell boss grabbed Boyle in the tunnel after reacting angrily to a comment made by his former employer following Motherwell's 2-1 victory, which gave them a four-point cushion in the race for a top-six place in the Clydesdale Bank Premier League.
The confrontation became the subject of a police inquiry, although the match commander stressed no criminal complaint had been made.
Brown, 70, said: "The fans were giving me a bit of stick but I don't think there was malice in it - just what you would expect. When I heard that I thought they must have been disappointed we weren't here. Maybe I'm naive but I took it as a compliment.
"Most of the club people have wished us well and been gracious. I've kept a dignified silence about situations here. I think the fans would be disappointed if I told them certain things.
"But I will continue to maintain silence because that is the dignified way to operate and I don't want to turn the fans in any way against a terrific football club. I have always loved Motherwell, and still do, but there are one or two people that I think tend to besmirch the reputation of the club."
