The year ends at Fir Park with a visit from Kilmarnock

Motherwell host Kilmarnock on Saturday as 2012 draws to a close. 'Well fans were thrilled by the sparkling display on show against Aberdeen and if the team can supply more of the same we'll pop a few corks as the New Year arrives.
Our visitors got the better of Hearts on Wednesday thanks to a Kelly penalty and with seven points from the last nine on offer they will present a good challenge. Perez had to be substituted in that game but if he doesn't recover there will still be a goal threat from their top scorer Sheridan as well as Heffernan and Kelly.
We came away with three points from Rugby Park in August when the teams last met. Murphy has developed a pleasing habit of scoring in pairs and that pattern started the last time we played Kilmarnock. Further doubles were scored at Easter Road with the latest against the Dons.Killie face the wall last season
McCall deserves credit for the altering the formation on Wednesday. Our shape had become too predictable and opposition planners were able to set up accordingly. The manager suggested, in his pre-match remarks, that Hammell and Humphrey had taken knocks that would prevent them from delivering a full 90 minutes and it might be that the enforced change of personnel aided the alteration in formation. Nevertheless, we now have an alternative to the routine that has served fairly well throughout the campaign and Kenny Shiels will have to make a guess as to the game plan we'll adopt.
It is realistic to expect that the players can replicate the flair and panache that so impressed in midweek? They've set a high bar and they know that it's possible. If we are to increase attendances at Fir Park there's no better advertisement than consistent good football.
A game between two sides keen to play the game on the ground normally entertains and a 2-1 home win will set the seal on a successful 2012.
