Steelmen exit for Connolly

Midfielder Kenneth Connolly has left Motherwell after his contract at Fir Park expired.

The 21-year-old was handed a six-month deal last summer after recovering from a broken leg, but had failed to hold down a first-team place with the Steelmen this season.

Connolly failed to make a single appearance for Mark McGhee's side this term.

"It is very difficult to leave the club after so many enjoyable years here," he said.

"But there is a time when first-team football is a necessity and I am now at that point."
