Scottish League Cup round 3: Livingston v Motherwell

29 August 2013 11:54
Motherwell were handed an away tie against Livingston when the draw for the 3rd round of the League Cup was made at Easter Road on Thursday lunchtime.

Our opponents have struggled in the Championship in their early games but they'll be sure to relish the chance of facing a Premiership team.  We last played Livingston in 2006 .

Our history in this competition is poor.  Motherwell have won the League Cup only once in 67 attempts and we've been losing finalists twice.  Last year we succumbed to a team of Rangers boys from the then Division 3.

Still, the League Cup (this year without a sponsor)  has given us a chance to see some rarely visited venues, most recently against Clyde and Brechin and. if the later stages are reached, a chance for extra income.

The full draw is

Hibs v Stranraer

Dundee v Inverness

Celtic v Morton

Livingston v Motherwell

Hearts v Queen of the South

Falkirk v Aberdeen

Dundee United v Partick Thistle

The tie will be played on Tuesday 24 or Wednesday 25 September.
