Saunders: I'll return stronger

Motherwell defender Steven Saunders has vowed to come back stronger from the Achilles injury that has finished his season.[LNB] The 20-year-old ruptured the tendon on his left heel less than four minutes into the Scotland Under-21 team's 3-0 friendly victory over Norway at St Mirren Park on Wednesday.[LNB]Saunders will undergo surgery to repair the damage today and will be out for nine months.[LNB]The versatile defender, who won a full Scotland cap against the Faroe Islands last year, is no stranger to bouncing back from serious injury.[LNB]He returned from a broken leg before moving from Queen's Park to Motherwell's youth set-up, and he is determined to overcome this latest setback.[LNB]Saunders, who collapsed with nobody near him as he moved to collect a pass, told Motherwell's website: "Obviously I am gutted about what has happened but I just need to get on with it now.[LNB]"I am upbeat about things - I won't let this beat me. I'll come back bigger and stronger next season and my recovery starts as soon as I have my operation."[LNB]
