Ross County - 24h on

This happy winning streak Motherwell are enjoying has put a shine on many a weekend. On Saturday we recovered from an early loss and with three fine goals the game was won in style. It's good to be a 'Well fan!

We’ve had a fine start to the season, the bare facts are shown by this sequence WLL WWW DW.  That represents 16 points from the opening 8 games – 3 points ahead of the same stage last year.

The goals were worthy of note.  Sutton’s pair, first with a soaring leap to convert Ainsworth's corner and the second following a well placed shot at the end of a sprint, underlined his importance to the team.  He caused the County defence problems throughout and now has five goals to his name, one ahead of his striking partner Anier.

McHugh took his chance well.  Ramsden's diagonal ball came from behind the striker and a timed his run and leap to perfection.  The header was powerful and Brown had no chance of stopping the ball as it flew into the net.  He scored the opener at Livingston in midweek and his goals will remind the favoured twosome that he's waiting in the wings.

We seem to have adapted to the close season turnover of players better than Ross County.  We had 60% of the ball, more shots and corners and we conceded fewer fouls.  Maybe our acquisition of Lawson and Vigurs hurt them more than it has benefitted us (so far).

The win sets us up for the trip to Parkhead next Saturday.  Our steady progress and winning habit should guarantee that we see a confident Motherwell side take to the field.  McCall will remind his charges that we should have won in January  on our last visit and encourage them not to return home empty handed.
