Randolph ready for revenge mission

Motherwell goalkeeper Darren Randolph fully expects Dundee United to be on a revenge mission when they come calling in the Clydesdale Bank Premier League on Wednesday night.

United's hopes of retaining the Scottish Cup this year were shattered when they were dumped out of the competition by Motherwell in last week's quarter-final. They responded to the defeat with an impressive 3-2 win against Rangers, which saw them twice battle back from behind before snatching maximum points at Ibrox on Saturday.

And Randolph knows United will now be out to settle the score with Motherwell in the SPL clash at Fir Park. He said: "It will be a hard game for us, especially after their performance on Saturday. We know they didn't play as well as they could in the cup game so we are expecting a tougher game this time. They will definitely be looking for revenge."

He added: "We know that's what we are going to get so hopefully we can start fast against them and catch them off guard."

Motherwell are keen to use the next couple of games to secure their place in the top six before the league split.

Randolph added: "We've got two games left but it's still in our own hands just now.

"We have been in the top six all season so it would be a huge blow if we didn't manage to stay in there. I think it's a must that we get there."

Meanwhile, Motherwell boss Stuart McCall admits his side are not quite hitting the levels of consistency he wants from them but says they are not too far away.

"We'll be able to say that after we put a string of results together," he said. "There was only one game this season where I can say we were out-fought and out-battled and that was against St Mirren.

"It was nice for me to hear that Neil Lennon and Peter Houston both said the hungrier team won when they played us. That's what I want the team to be, hungry."
