Next up - Inverness CT

Motherwell travel north in search of a point to guarantee the SPL runners up place. Given that we scored five on our previous visit to Inverness there will be a quiet confidence that a wee celebration will be enjoyed on the homeward journey.

When the split took effect a few weeks ago Motherwell had the advantage of three points over Inverness.  Our two 3-1 wins over Dundee United and Celtic have stretched the gap to nine points as ICT failed to take anything from their games.  European football is assured at Fir Park but our hosts still have work to do if they are to make a Europa League debut.

Sunny Inverness!

We can expect Butcher to have his troops fired up for this game.  Not only would a loss threaten their third place but they will still be smarting from the 5-1 drubbing they suffered in November when goals from Higdon, Murphy, Cummins, Ojamaa and Daley  ended their ten game unbeaten run.

The home team will miss Raven following his red card against St Johnstone and a reshuffle of the defensive set up will follow.  McKay, Shinnie and Foran have 49 goals between them this season but with only one goal in the last three outings it seems that they are not in form at the moment.  Let's hope that continues at the weekend.

The Motherwell team will pick itself.  The eleven who started the last few games are likely to be given the responsibility of taking at least the single point that would deliver the most successful league campaign since 1994/5.

Given the recent form of both teams it might be that a few 'Well fans will expect a healthy return from odds as generous as  8/5 for an away win.  Some might hit the jackpot and speculate on a third 3-1 win!
