Murphy savours special strike

Jamie Murphy claims he scored the best goal of his career to help Motherwell brush aside St Johnstone at Hampden to reach their first Scottish Cup final in 20 years. Fir Park skipper Stephen Craigan headed Well in to the lead in the fifth minute before midfielder Murphy finished a run by driving low past Peter Enckelman from the edge of the box. John Sutton made it 3-0 before the break to allow Stuart McCall's men to book their place in the May 21 final against either Celtic or Aberdeen, who play at Hampden on Sunday. "I got the ball and I kept going," Murphy said. "I was on the edge of the box and no-one was in front of me and thankfully I hit it well. It was probably my best goal. To score it at Hampden, the national stadium, was great and to help the team through was great. "The fans were great and it was for them. Not everyone can say they have played in a Scottish Cup final and now we have the chance to do that and the chance to win. "We look forward to it and it doesn't matter who we get. We believe we play well in big games. We have played well in the Scottish Cup this season and against the Old Firm apart from one game at Ibrox so we are looking forward to it."
