Duo back for Well

Motherwell defenders Shaun Hutchinson and Simon Ramsden are back in contention for the Steelmen's Clydesdale Bank Premier League clash with Ross County at Fir Park.

Hutchinson missed last week's William Hill Scottish Cup fourth round tie against Aberdeen at Pittodrie with a hamstring injury while Ramsden has been out with calf problem.

Defender Steven Saunders is fit enough to play following his recovery from an August knee operation but is not ready for first team action yet, while keeper Darren Randolph is still suspended.

Striker Michael Higdon hopes County are on the end of the "doing" he believes Motherwell are ready to hand out at Fir Park.

Stuart McCall's side have won only once at home this season - against Inverness in September - and it is a statistic that is becoming an increasingly heavy millstone around the neck of the Lanarkshire club.

Despite their reticence in front of their own supporters the Steelmen are in fifth place in the table, only four points behind leaders Celtic, albeit having played a game more.

Liverpool-born striker Higdon, 29, has been key to that as the second top scorer in the Clydesdale Bank Premier League behind Hibernian's Leigh Griffiths with 10 goals.

Well's next chance to address their home form comes against the Staggies and Higdon wants to set the record straight.

"We haven't been playing so well in terms of results at home but hopefully we can turn it around," said the former Falkirk and St Mirren striker.

"It is a tight pitch and sometimes it is hard to break teams down, as it was against Hearts the other week.

"The first goal is key in every game. If you look at the stats then whoever scores the first goal normally goes on to win the game.

"Once we get the first goal, which is key as I said, and get a few more then I'm sure we will give a team a good doing out there."

County have injury doubts over defender Scott Boyd and midfielder Stuart Kettlewell but centre-back Grant Munro is fully fit after a knock saw him spend last weekend's Highland derby on the bench.

Russell Duncan and Mark Corcoran have still to return from injury.
