Lanarkshire has been saturated in the last few days and the pitch succumbed to the soaking. Such cancellations used to be routine at Motherwell but since a major renovation some years ago we have been freed from the frequent embarrassments.
The game against Dundee United was originally scheduled for Wednesday (30th) but less than a fortnight ago the clubs agreed to bring it forward by 24 hours.
Tuesday's rain is driven on by a strong wind and even if the game had gone ahead it's entertainment value would have been greatly reduced because of the weather.
