Motherwell to meet Celtic in Scottish Cup final

Celtic won the right to face Motherwell in Scottish Cup final when they disposed of Aberdeen in Sunday's semi final. Our cup final opponents deserved their win though it was made easier by Considine’s early dismissal.  Despite Langfield saving the resulting penalty there was no way that the ten men were going to hold out for seventy odd minutes. A second half barrage swamped Craig Brown’s team and Stuart McCall, watching from his pundit’s chair in the stand, will have seen enough to realise that his players need to be at their best to lift the old trophy. The opposing fans got behind their favourites and there was plenty of chanting in the Hampden sunshine but they managed some agreement about the timing of the game. There were banners at either end complaining about the early start and the need to put fans’ interests ahead of the preferences of the TV schedules.  Let's hope that the SPL representatives, who meet tomorrow, take note of that sentiment. The planning for the big day can start now.
