Motherwell sign Michael Higdon

After losing John Sutton to Hearts, Stuart McCall moved quickly to replace him with Michael Higdon. Michael Higdon will lead the line for Motherwell next season having signed on a free tranxfer from St Mirren.  The bustling striker has had a very respectable scoring record for a poor team in recent years and it will be hoped he can kick on with improved service. Few Motherwell fans are likely to be impressed with his general play from what we have seen of him against us but there is no denying he will bring a substantial physical presence to the attack.  He also has some vital goals to his name - notably a strike in Inverness to secure Falkirk's SPL place in a relegation-decider and he also converted a penalty to knock Celtic out of the Scottish Cup. The loss of John Sutton meant that a target man striker was always likely to be high on our list of priorities and attention can now be turned to strengthening other areas of the squad.  Comments from both Higdon and manager Stuart McCall can be found on the official site.
