Motherwell search for consistency

Motherwell player Tom Hateley has acknowledged there are no excuses for not consistently repeating the form they showed in their victory over Celtic.

An under-strength Motherwell stunned the Clydesdale Bank Premier League leaders at Fir Park last Sunday when John Sutton's double earned them a 2-0 win.

The unexpected triumph followed a disappointing home defeat by St Mirren, and Hateley feels they have to cut out the poor displays if they are to make sure of a top-six place.

Fifth-placed Motherwell, who have Stephen Craigan and Steven Saunders back in contention, can open up a lead of at least six points on the chasing pack if they win at Inverness.

"When you get a win like that everyone gets a massive lift and we can't wait for the game at Inverness," Hateley said.

"I think it's fair to say we deserved to win. It shows what we can do on our day. "Perhaps we are not consistent enough, we got beaten and then beat Celtic. We did well on the day and we have to do well again to beat Inverness."
