More opposition to the ten team SPL
The Trust conducted a survey of Motherwell fans' views regarding the proposal to reduce the size of the SPL. The result was clear - NO to a ten team league. In the weeks leading up to the cup final fans were asked to complete a short survey based on the future of the game as seen by the SPL Strategy Group. The questions were available online and on paper at the Trusts events in May. Supporters’ views are clear. They don’t want a ten team league and they don’t feel that they have been properly consulted about the proposed SPL reforms. Trust chairman Joe Smith commented, “It is no surprise to see that the poll of Motherwell fans echoes the result that Supporters Direct conducted a few months ago. It is to be hoped that Motherwell’s representative reflects these views when the SPL board next meets to consider the Strategy Group’s plans.” Key points Do you support a reduction in the size of the top league? Fans who oppose the 10 team league are being encouraged to send a postcard to SPL to make them aware of the strength of feeling against their proposals. A campaign is being run via the website Changing Scottish Football and they'll ensure that the SPL gets the message.
