Midweek roundup

Now that the three points from the Inverness trip are safely banked it's time for the players to focus on Sunday's meeting with Celtic.

Before he declares himself available Stevie Hammell has been discussing the injury that gave us all a fright at the Caledonian Stadium.  From his graphic tweets and by the wonder that is MFC TV we have been able to get a real sense of the aftermath of a crunching tackle.

He suffered both a gash on the shin and a bang to his ankle but chilly pictures of an ice bath and his upbeat demeanour suggest that there is a chance he may be available for what would be his 400th appearance in claret and amber.  Hammy took a realistic view of the challenge saying that “these things are part of the game2 and adding that there were no ill feelings towards his opponent.

Meanwhile Steve Kirk was signing the club up as part of the Braidhurst Community Sports Hub.  This initiative further develops MFCs drive to become an active member of the local community and will widen the coaching commitment to Motherwell’s youngsters.

With an eye on the Celtic game Darren Randolph has pointed out that he and Anthony Stokes have known each other since they were both young teenagers through their involvement in several Irish under-age squads.  He is well aware of the threat that can come from the striker and knows that he and his fellow defenders will have to be alert to snuff him out of the game.

The Sunday game kicks off at 12 noon on Sunday.  Isn’t it a great triumph that a TV station can, at a whim, turn a supporter’s weekend upside down.  Still, if the club and the SPL can move a game from a Saturday to a Friday with barely a month’s notice we shouldn’t be surprised!
