The Trust and the club held an open meeting in the Cooper Suite on Monday evening. Derek Weir and Leeann Dempster held court and exchanged their thoughts about possible changes to the SPL. There were around 50 fans in the audience, they quizzed Derek and Leeann about the SPL’s restructuring plans.  Derek explained the processes involved in the group and how the 10 team idea had come to the fore.  It was clear that the club have not yet formed a firm view of the current proposal and that they will examine the revised plan that the SPL are preparing with some care.  They hope to consult fans further before a final decision is taken. Some specific issued were raised – Colt teams?  There are concerns about the practical issues and at the moment the idea would not be affordable. TV Money?  Leeann explained ways that a revised timetable for the season could help to generate more TV income and suggested that more research would be needed.  Playoffs would also encourage interest. Stadium move?  Either a refurbishment or a new build are the options but no hope of movement at the present despite lots of discussions. The pitch? It’s in good condition and the maintenance plan with STRI seems to be working well. Safe standing?  Work ongoing with the supporters consultative committee.  Community club?  The long term aim might be to have a Charitab;e Community Trust run the club for the benefit of the community but there is a need to follow the Falkirk model and have the stadium full of activity every day of the week.
