Motherwell striker Scott McDonald has won praise from manager Maurice Malpas for his efforts since a deadline day move to Rangers failed to materialise.
Well rejected an approach from the Ibrox club for the 23-year-old Australia international, but McDonald scored and showed up well in the 2-0 Scottish Cup win over Morton.
Malpas told the Wishaw Press: "I spoke to him for a long time and explained to him that there were two ways to go.
"He could curl up in ball or step up and produce the performances to get a move in the summer.
"He did the second against Morton. He stood up and was counted, but that was the only reaction we expected as he's strong-willed and stubborn."
