McCall frustrated by penalty call

Motherwell manager Stuart McCall felt his side were harshly denied a deserved point after Liam Craig's penalty earned St Johnstone a 1-0 victory at McDiarmid Park. Captain Stephen Craigan was penalised for a challenge on Michael Duberry to hand Craig the chance to slot home for a 62nd-minute winner. The Northern Ireland defender was incensed with the decision and his protests earned a yellow card from referee Calum Murray, who was well-placed to make the instant award. Craigan had lost the flight of Danny Grainger's corner as Duberry peeled off to the back post and appeared to be looking away from the ball as he challenged the Saints defender. But McCall felt it was dubious and said: "I asked the fourth official and he said it was for facing him or looking away from the ball. I just wanted to clarify why he gave it because everyone was stunned. Duberry made a half-hearted appeal but everyone else was as stunned as I was. It's a big decision which has obviously cost us the game. "Don't get me wrong, I saw Craigan facing the wrong way when the ball came in. He has jumped but he has not pushed him over or bundled into him. He jumped and it hit him on the back of the head. It's very, very, very, very soft. It's frustrating because it's not a game we deserved to lose."
