Motherwell manager Stuart McCall has praised Nicky Law for putting football before finances and choosing a move to the SPL club.[LNB] The midfielder, 23, is set to complete his switch to Fir Park when his current contract with Rotherham expires at the end of the month and he is expected to be officially unveiled on Friday.[LNB]Law - who is familiar with McCall from spells at Sheffield United and Bradford - was linked with both Scunthorpe and Crawley but opted for the SPL instead.[LNB]Speaking as Motherwell returned for the first day of pre-season training, McCall said: "At this moment in time, he is still a Rotherham player, he is under contract to June 30.[LNB]"But we've done a deal to bring him up on Friday and we are delighted to get him.[LNB]"He had a lot of clubs in England interested and, certainly financially, he could have done far better than coming to Motherwell.[LNB]"So I'm really pleased that he wants to come north of the border and show his undoubted talent."[LNB]McCall has high hopes for the player ahead of the new season.[LNB]He added: "He's an attacking player, he can play left, right, midfield, just off the front so he gives us a variety and hopefully he can chip in with some goals.[LNB]"His goalscoring record is not what it should be for the type of player he is but over the last two seasons he has been top of the assists chart.[LNB]"He is a creative player but he can score more."[LNB]McCall is also close to securing Steve Jennings on a new deal, despite being linked with SPL rivals Aberdeen and Hearts, after his contract expired at the end of last season.[LNB]The Well boss said: "We would like to think that would be done in the next couple of days.[LNB]"I will speak about him more once he has put his pen to paper because you never know what can happen at the last second.[LNB]"But, as it stands, he is here for pre-season, he is buzzing and we are all looking forward to the new season."[LNB]Motherwell also want to take Blackburn defender Gavin Gunning on another loan spell after he impressed last season but could face competition this time around.[LNB]McCall said: "We certainly need a defender and Gavin covers the centre-half and the left-back positions so he would be ideal. We still need to speak to Blackburn.[LNB]"Because of some of his good performances last season he is on the radar of other clubs but he certainly enjoyed his spell with us and I would like to bring him back to the club.[LNB]"There is still a little bit of work to be done on that but it's one avenue we are going down."
