Malpas issues Martin warning

01 June 2007 10:48
Motherwell boss Maurice Malpas has warned Scotland Under-19s goalkeeper Alan Martin against leaving Fir Park to join Rangers. The 18-year-old has yet to make a senior appearance for the Steelmen and Malpas feels that Martin still has a lot to learn. He told the club's official website: "It looks as though Alan will be leaving to join Rangers on freedom of contract, they have been making enquiries about compensation. "I don't think it is the best move for him. At Motherwell he would be third-choice keeper and would be playing reserve-team football and be on the bench with the first-team. "At Rangers he could well be playing at under-19 level for another year."
