Lasley targets third spot

Motherwell midfielder Keith Lasley sees no reason why Mark McGhee's side cannot clinch a second successive third-place finish in the SPL table.

The Steelmen have made a stuttering start to the current campaign and are currently eighth, but Lasley believes recent victories against St Mirren and Falkirk have helped to get them back on track.

He said: "Having finished third last season, and deservedly so, we've set a standard for ourselves. We have to aim to be there or thereabouts again.

"It's a tight, tight league. We're just three points off bottom spot, but we're also three points off third place as well.

"A few good results could really put us in a good position."
