Kerr issues Well warning

Motherwell midfielder Brian Kerr has warned that he may opt to leave the Steelmen in the summer if the Fir Park club allow Scott McDonald to move on.

The 25-year-old schemer is out of contract at the end of the season and is waiting to see if McDonald makes an exit, with Rangers believed to be keen to sign the Australia international.

Kerr told the Daily Record: "I'm speaking to the club about a new contract and I'm keen to stay, but I need to know they're going in the right direction.

"If we want to go forward we can't afford to lose Scott and players like him.

"If lads like Scott are seen to stay at Motherwell, then it would persuade other players to join him.

"But I'll be surprised if there aren't a few big bids for him and then it would be up to the club to decide whether they want to accept any of them."
