Jamie Murphy- best SPL young player in April
Congratulations Jamie! Motherwell striker Jamie Murphy has been voted Clydesdale Bank Premier League Young Player of the Month for April - well deserved recognition for his excellent form. He helped us to a top-six place in the SPL with his April strike against Dundee United and his cup goals in the United replay and in the semi final against St Johnstone eased our road to the final. Although goals grab the headlines his overall contribution to the team has been superb. His ability to run with the ball, often cutting in from the left wing, has been a trademark of his style and we’ll be hoping to see more of his skill on 21 May. SPL Young Player of the Month for April Stuart McCall gave him a rest for our last outing (against Kilmarnock) and it may be that he remains wrapped in cotton wool while his team-mates finish the league campaign at Parkhead on Sunday.
