In-form Steelmen win again
13 Mar 2010 - 16:58:39
Motherwell's revival under Craig Brown shows no sign of coming to an end after the fourth-placed Steelmen eased past Hearts 3-1 at Fir Park.
Two goals inside the opening 13 minutes by Mark Reynolds and John Sutton effectively ended the match as a contest while Jim O'Brien added a third midway through the second half.
David Templeton's 69th-minute goal proved to be nothing more than consolation for the hapless Jambos.
Elsewhere, Falkirk are four points adrift at the foot of the table after St Johnstone came from behind to beat them 2-1
The Bairns looked to be on course for a rare but welcome three points when Marc Twaddle gave them a 27th-minute lead but Saints hit back to equalise on the stroke of half time when Liam Craig netted from the penalty spot after Brian McLean had handled the ball.
Former Gretna hot-shot Kenny Deuchar grabbed the winner for the visitors with just six minutes left.
In the day's other relegation battle Flavio Paixao netted in stoppage time as Hamilton beat St Mirren 1-0 at New Douglas Park.
In the Scottish Cup quarter-finals Celtic won 3-0 at Kilmarnock, Raith Rovers emerged with a 2-1 victory from the all-first division clash at Dundee 2-1 and Ross County earned a replay after securing an impressive 2-2 draw at Hibernian.
