Hibs - 24h on

It's been two months and nine games since the Motherwell faithful have been able to celebrate an SPL win. Saturday's three points gives us all a lift and allows us look forward to the rest of the season with a little more confidence. The win will also come as a relief for our new manager.  Clean sheets are one thing but he’ll get as big a boost from the win as the players.  He’s also finding out more about his squad.  Hutchison had a good game and coped well with the test that Nish offered in the second half.  Meechan made his second substitute appearance in a week and didn’t look out of place and Page coped well with the marking job on Zemmama he had for half an hour. Both goals came from set pieces and the coaching staff will be happy that their drills and practice has borne fruit.  Saunders’ goal from Hammell’s corner was as good a near post header as you’ll see anywhere and although Murphy’s was helped by a bit of hesitancy from Smith, his quick reaction was well rewarded.  Those in the Cooper stand were spared the characteristic high pitched shouts from out ex-keeper.  Buzz seems to have lost his voice since he left us! Important though the win was we have to remember that we were facing a Hibs side that seems to be falling apart.  They were really poor.  Had they taken advantage of the penalty just before the break who knows what would have happened in the second half? We have a midweek trip to McDiarmid Park on Wednesday and a win there would be the perfect preparation for the CIS semi at Hampden next weekend.  Another clean sheet is the minimum we need but a goal (or two), especially from open play, would be perfect.
