After a long season the players are entitled to enjoy a well deserved break. The manager's decision to rest some players ahead of the cup final meant that no player took part in all 53 competitive games in 2010/11 but the lads listed below are due a good rest before they have to pull on the boots again for the next campaign. No doubt they and the rest of the team have gone their separate ways to soak up some sun and rest tired limbs. The crazy weather we have suffered in Scotland in the last few weeks makes the appeal of Mediterranean beaches or luxury hotels in Miami all the more appealing. The date of the first pre-season friendly is 9 July (note - this has not been confirmed by MFC) and that means that the players will have the month of June at their disposal. There was a time when footballers had a reputation for indulging in all sorts of unhealthy excesses when they were freed from the rigours of regular training but surely our players will not fall into that trap? In these days the scientific approach to fitness should mean that they have personal targets to meet on their return to the club. Rest, recreation combined with sensible eating and drinking should be the regime.
