Hammell pens Well extension

Motherwell defender Steven Hammell has signed a new two-year contract with the SPL club.

The 28-year-old has spent most of his career at Fir Park, having rejoined the Steelmen in January 2008 after 18 months in England with Southend United.

Hammell told the Daily Record: "I am delighted to have things sorted out. I've been discussing my situation for a while now and it's a relief to know everything has been tied up.

"There's quite a few of the boys out of contract here and hopefully I'll be the first of many to stay on for a while yet.

"For me personally, I just want to continue to keep on doing my best for the club."
