Hammell: I'm happy getting assists

Stevie Hammell will be happy to keep setting up goals against St Johnstone despite feeling robbed of his first Motherwell goal for seven years by Jamie Murphy. The left-back thought he had scored the opening goal against Hibernian on Saturday when his free-kick eluded the Hibs defence and bounced past goalkeeper Graeme Smith as Murphy ran in. But Murphy has been awarded the goal by the Scottish Premier League. "Murph's adamant he got a touch but I don't think he did," Hammell said. "If you put your hand up and run away celebrating, you get the goal. So I think he knows that and he's done well to get it. "The referee actually gave me the goal in his report but the dubious goals panel gave it to Murph, so I don't know how that works. "I watched it back a couple of times on the video analysis and I personally don't think he touched it, but I don't mind, it's good for the banter. "Don't get me wrong it would be better if it was my goal. But it's good for Murph, I don't think he has scored at Fir Park for a while. He will do anything for a goal, that lad."
