Gow: I've nothing to prove at Motherwell

Published: 03 Sep 2010 - 09:30:31

Alan Gow insists he does not have a point to prove in the Clydesdale Bank Premier League after signing a short-term deal at Motherwell.

The forward believes the only person he needs to impress is new boss Craig Brown as he bids to force his way into the manager's plans. Gow signed a six-month contract after passing a medical on Thursday. He spent the second half of last season on loan at Hibernian before being released by Plymouth in the summer but says he has already proved he can deliver in the SPL.

"I don't think I've got a point to prove," he said.

"I've done it before in the Premier League so I just need to show that I can do it again.

"It's good to sort my future out and hopefully I can get back playing as soon as possible.

"I've just been keeping myself fit and waiting to sign somewhere eventually. I'm just looking forward to playing now.

"I spoke to a few clubs. But I've probably made a few moves that I shouldn't have and this time I wanted to take my time making a decision and find somewhere that suited me."

Gow has played for several clubs since beginning his career with local side Clydebank, including an ill-fated spell at Rangers, which saw him make just two cup appearances and fail to hold down a place in Walter Smith's plans.

"You would need to ask Walter about that," he said. "I wasn't in Walter's plans and I didn't fit into the way he played.

"It's just one of those things. I would have loved to stay at Rangers for the rest of my career but it wasn't possible."
