Gannon waits on O'Brien move

Motherwell manager Jim Gannon is waiting to see whether loanee Yassin Moutaouakil wants to remain at the club before making a move for Derry City defender Ger O'Brien.

Moutaouakil joined the Steelmen on loan from Charlton Athletic initially until January, with Gannon yet to find out if the right-back would like to stay longer.

He said: "We have got to sit down with Yass and his agent and discuss the position. There is a fear we might lose these quality loan players and they might go back to their clubs or other clubs.

"So we do have to express a lot of interest in a lot of players and Ger O'Brien is a player I know is available now and can do a good job here.

"I have spoken to (Derry manager) Stephen Kenny about it, but a deal is a long way off and it all depends on the situation with Yassin."
