Gannon shrugs off defeat

Motherwell manager Jim Gannon has warned Llanelli that their Europa League qualifying tie remains far from over despite losing Thursday's first leg 1-0 at home.

New boss Gannon's Fir Park reign has started in disappointing fashion as the Welsh part-timers pulled off a shock result after Stuart Jones' header proved to be the game's decisive moment after 28 minutes.

Ahead of next week's second leg, he warned: "I know they are celebrating because it's a famous victory for them and a good reward for what they put in but it's far from dead.

"If we win on Thursday it will soon be forgotten.

"It's far from my worst result. I've been involved in a lot of games in football when I've been on the right side of part-time sides beating full-time sides.

"If certain things go for them and don't go for you, it can happen.

"The game ultimately is not judged on possession or where you play territorially it's about goals - and they got the goal."
