Gannon refuses to take Becali bait
Ahead of Thursday's third qualifying round first leg in Romania, the Steaua president reportedly said: "Motherwell don't stand a chance in front of Steaua. We will go through without trouble. "I don't know any of their players and they are not a team we should be afraid of." However Gannon, speaking at Glasgow airport on Wednesday morning before his side flew out to Bucharest, retorted: "I think we seen that (kind of thing) with statements from Flamurtari in the last round. "I'd like to think we've always been respectful and professional and give due respect to the opposition team and their country. "Perhaps it has been taken out of context but they will be confident and there will be expectations of Steaua against us. "However, we will go there and be professional and hopefully surprise people with the quality that we show." Gannon hinted at Europeans debuts for new boys John Ruddy, the 22-year-old keeper who signed on loan from Everton until next January, and 23-year-old former Northampton midfielder Giles Coke. The Fir Park boss said: "All the players from the last game are fit and Giles Coke and John Ruddy come in to the equation as well. "John has a great chance of playing while we are still assessing Giles' fitness. "But I'd like to think that both players will come in to the 16 and play a part."
