Fitzpatrick: Pitch an advantage

Defender Marc Fitzpatrick believes Motherwell can use the much-criticised Fir Park pitch to their advantage.

The Steelmen will be fined £20,000 by the SPL if another home game is postponed this season, while the surface came in for severe criticism from Celtic players following last weekend's 1-1 draw.

But rather than moan about the state of the pitch, Fitzpatrick believes Well can use it to their advantage.

He said: "Everybody knows it's not the best surface, but it's just something you need to handle.

"Teams won't want to come here, which could be an advantage to us.

"It's more a mental thing. If you come out and you don't want to play and think the pitch is bad, you're never going to win a game.

"But if you come out and say, 'let's get on with things and do what we can', you're going to win the majority of your games."
